Abstract
Art is a vessel for humans to express the meaning, feelings, and depth of their hearts, including for recreation, therefore art can be used to moderate religious life. The Community Service or Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PkM) in the Koes Plus Kulon Progo Community (KOKOKU) conducted by the PkM Faculty of Theology UKDW supports religious moderation through music. Members of KOKOKU community itself consist of various religions. The method used is Aesthetic Interreligious Encounter (AIE). The AIE approach was first used to discover the richness of meaning that occurs through interactions between musicians in Indonesia who have different religious backgrounds. The results of the interviews revealed that there were many changes in attitudes and views towards adherents of other religions after interacting through music. Then in particular the increased sense of nationalism and tolerance through the lyrics of the Koes Plus’s songs.
