Abstract
Proper preventive maintenance of a wheelchair is crucial to maintaining the user’s body condition and ensuring that they can move comfortably. Preventive maintenance for wheelchairs is divided into two stages: light maintenance which can be done daily or weekly and heavy maintenance which involves repairing or replacing spare parts. The agenda of the UKDW Ergonomics and Inclusive Design Laboratory for PkM 2023 is to raise awareness of preventive maintenance among wheelchair users and their families. The program was initiated due to a lack of socialization, understanding, and technical assistance for users’ families in performing preventive maintenance. The program was implemented (optional) in four ways: (1) through meeting with parents or caregivers at SLB, (2) through meeting with the community, (3) by directly visiting wheelchair users, and (4) by collaborating with the foundations or NGO that focuses on wheelchair service. The expected result of easy maintenance educational PkM for wheelchairs is to increase the awareness and capability of families of wheelchair users regarding regular maintenance and preventive handling of wheelchairs.
