Abstract
The use of bitter melon fruit extract as a vegetable larvicide has become a growing research focus in an effort to improve plant cultivation and empower Dasawisma groups. This research aims to evaluate the potential of bitter melon fruit extract as a vegetable larvicide that can be used by the Dasawisma group in Masago Village to control plant pests that disrupt growth and crop yields. The research method involves the extraction stage, larvicidal activity testing, and the implementation of empowering Dasawisma groups in plant cultivation. Bitter melon fruit extract extraction was carried out using maceration and solvent extraction methods. The larvicidal activity test was carried out on plant pest larvae which generally attack plants in Masago Village. The results of the larvicidal activity test show that bitter melon fruit extract has the potential as an effective vegetable larvicide in controlling plant pests. Furthermore, this research also involves empowering Dasawisma groups in Masago Village in cultivating plants. The Dasawisma group was given training regarding the use of bitter melon fruit extract as a vegetable larvicide and efficient plant cultivation techniques. They are also assisted in procuring raw materials for bitter melon extract and monitoring plant growth. The results of this research show that the use of bitter melon fruit extract as a vegetable larvicide can increase the yield of plants cultivated by the Dasawisma group in Masago Village. Apart from that, empowering Dasawisma groups in cultivating plants also has a positive impact on their economy, improving welfare, and strengthening social ties within the community.
